Carol Kauffman PhD ABPP PCC

Carol Kauffman is the Founding Director of the Institute of Coaching located at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School where she is an Assistant Clinical Professor. She launched the annual Harvard Coaching Conferences, now given annually each September as well as the International Coaching Research Forum now also an annual working conference. She has taught at McLean Hospital, Department of Psychiatry at H.M.S. since 1985 and has been a senior supervisor for over twenty five years. Dr. Kauffman is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology and is an Examiner for the Board.

Experienced coach

A veteran psychologist and coach she is a Professional Certified Coach and has participated in over 38,000 psychotherapy and coaching sessions. Carol maintains an active executive coaching and coaching supervision practice in the US, UK and Europe and is supervisor for The Alexander Partnership. Dr. Kauffman also enjoys offering short coaching consultations for executive coaches facing unexpected challenges.

Renowned speaker

As a regular Keynote speaker, Dr. Kauffman also runs Masterclasses and Workshops that range from half-day to three days on numerous topics related to coaching, development, positive psychology and strengths-based interventions. She also offers group supervision sessions. She has spoken recently in Germany, Netherlands, UK, Canada, China, Malaysia, Portugal and throughout the US.

 

Regularly published

As Co-Editor in Chief of the academic and professional peer-reviewed journal, Coaching: An International Journal of Theory, Research and Practice Dr. Kauffman writes regular editorials on coaching. She also Co-Edited the Special Issue in Positive Psychology of the International Coaching Psychology Review where she is on the editorial board. She is also an ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Positive Psychology for Routledge and Wiley Press. She has written numerous chapters and academic articles on coaching and positive psychology. Her most recent article will be published in the Harvard Business Review special issue on executive coaching, January 2009.
